The best way to store bananas is to keep them at room temperature. It is also important to keep them away from direct sunlight and away from heat. Banana hangers are useful in keeping your bananas firm longer. They prevent bananas from bruising and also allow the bananas to ripen more slowly.

Partially eaten bananas are best stored in its skin and sealed in a plastic bag. You can store this open and partially eaten banana in the refrigerator for several days.

To speed up the ripening process, place the green bananas in a bag for several days.

If your bananas have ripened and you are not ready to use them, you can freeze them and then use them for cooking and baking when they thaw out.  Note that they will be mushy, but will still retain their sweet flavor.

Be sure that your bananas include the stem, as a stemless banana will sometimes go bad before it ripens.

Green bananas are often a good choice, as they will resist bruising during transportation and will stay fresh for a longer period of time.
